Greetings! As we enter November, with much-needed moisture and recent snowfall, I'm reminded that just as the earth requires water to sustain life, so do people. Just like the trees and plants that survive significant and stressful events—such as the recent fires across the state—we must care for ourselves and one another after such experiences to promote healing and foster new growth.
International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is an event where survivors of suicide loss come together to find connection, understanding, and hope through shared experiences. In 1999, Senator Harry Reid, who lost his father to suicide, introduced a resolution in the United States Senate that led to the creation of International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day. Also known as Survivor Day, this event is designated by the United States Congress as a day for those affected by suicide to gather for healing and support. Survivor Day is always observed on the Saturday before American Thanksgiving, as this time of year can be especially challenging for suicide loss survivors. This year, International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
Two events have been planned in Fremont County—one in Lander and one in Riverton. Please join us and visit our Events Page for more information.
